Boat To Row for Amelia's Magazine

New pic of top new band Boat to Row on Amelia's Magazine.

Amelia's Magazine blog for Flik Hall

Well hello I'm back.I have been doing some ultra top secret work which you will see the fruits of in the summer, I'm making sound all far more interesting than it is, but well, its kind of cool. Annoyingly I have a load of work that Ive done recently, none of which I can actually show as it's all under NDA's. GRUMPFACE.

But this I can... new blog up yesterday on Amelia's Magazine documenting mine and Charlotte Hoyle's recent collaboration with fashion designer Flik Hall's A/W 2011 collection. Read on, its lovely stuff!

Felicity herself had this to say about my illustrations which I feel is spot on.

When I found Rebecca’s work I particularly like a section of her work named Rubbish Doll House… I really liked the texture she had worked into her illustrations, one of a girl with rams horns looked amazing with so much attention to detail and delicate lines encasing the image. I imagined her style would translate well onto the intricate fabrics in the collection.

Cassette Playa for Amelia's Magazine

MORE STUFF. I think I'm being quite prolific whilst simultaneously lazy at the moment which is quite clever and bound to end in disaster.

Rest in peace Knut!

Knut, BEST POLAR BEAR EVER has sadly died suddenly, at the age of 4 in Berlin Zoo (BEST ZOO EVER, FACT.) I saw Knut several years ago, and he was amazing and whatever people may say about captivity and that, I think he was brilliant and I am obsessed with Zoos. I go there nearly every time to go to Berlin. Its the best thing.

Lots of love to Knut.

Another blog post about Japan ( but with a bit of a purpose)

Everyone's seen it on the news, and its the hardest footage to watch that I've seen for a while. I think its easy to become sanitised to mass destruction and global events in the age of rolling news, and sadly I think come to expect it in certain areas of the world. And even more sadly perhaps when it happens to a so-termed 'developed' part of the world we are even more upset... outraged, perhaps? That the proof comes back to whack us in the face that we can't actually control nature? I don't know. Anyway, its done. The horrific extensive wholesale destruction and erasure of whole communities, histories, people. I cant do much over here. But I can, help people to donate money. So if you haven't already bought my little book from here then do so, as all the monies will now be going to the British Red Cross to aid Japanese relief efforts.

(i think Japan might need a bit more than a poke though)

Georgia Hardinge for Amelia's Magazine

New work for Amelia's Magazine detailing Georgia Hardinge's London Fashion Week show. For anyone unaware of Amelia Gregory, she is a true champion of the fashion illustrator - not something I tend towards generally but enjoy doing- and is a really inspiration to people wanting to break into both illustration and publishing. Its always a pleasure to work on pics for her.

Trash City Limits....

In one of my other guises, I work occasionally with my good friend Rubbish Fairy as House of Doll at Glastonbury and other festivals with Trash City to hostess, dress up and generally disrupt people's nights. Last weekend saw White Trash in Berlin taken over on Saturday night by a selection of the Trash City crew... and I think we may have slightly shook up the cool collected Berliners.. Thanks to Yehuda Swed for these incredible pictures... and all the Trash City crew for an amazing night.

Looking out for luuuurrrrrvvvveeeeee.....

Creaturemag wanted some Valentines love today, so I sent them this.

I used to hate Valentines Day. I remember, a lonely evening, hysterical friend on the phone who'd been stood up by the dickhead she was with at the time, flatmates out on romantic date and me, Die Hard, and a bottle of wine Id snapped the cork in so I couldn't even drink. These were bad times. Yes, Valentine's Day is a horrible, corporate evil that has assimilated itself into society so we care taught to believe its normal, and good, like Mothers Day, or something. Its not. HOWEVER, its a lot easy to deal with when you have a boyfriend, and you egt flowers and dinner and shit. Its my 5th Valentine this year with my beau, but i still remember the days when it was like every couple was laughing in your face. SO this is for all the people out there who, not necessarily single, may be a bit angry. or obsessive.. or just mental.

Tuesday 8 February 2011

oooh, why thank you sir!

The very pleasant folk of Motion Graphics Served saw fit to stick this old thing on the front of their website today. How very decent of them! Im no animator.... at all... sssh don't tell them.

Introducing Marg

(That kind of weirds me out a bit as its my mums name and now it seems like I'm trying to get people to date my mum, which I'm not...)

Anyway, The books, arrived, you can buy it here for only 5 English pounds ( i think if you want to pay in another currency I can work out how to do that too) so what are you waiting for!

Here's some pics I took in my excitement this morning as I was scribbling numbers in the front of all of them; hopefully chronologically though I seem to have a spare copy. oops. Numeracy was never my strong point. Excuse the Hipstamatic, but my digital camera is in dodge city.

WOOOO!

I MADE A BOOK!!

Yus, I've finally done it. 'Marg?Marg!' will be available to buy from little old me from Monday 7th February (see my shop here - its not there yet but it will be!) for the oh so reasonable and coalition debt slashing price of £5 plus a teeny bit extra for p&p in the UK.
If ANYONE outside the UK has EVER read this blog I'd be amazed, but if so, and by some bizarre chance you want a copy, then you can email me and I can make the nice people in Peckham post office come up with a price to get it over to you! Phew.
So yes thats it really. 'Marg?Marg!' is a small compendium of family sayings, a little tribute to parental wisdom and the universal brilliance of the poking things with a big stick.

More pics to follow... when i have the book in my hand.

Lost Cat posters

People get really into putting up "MISSING' and 'WANTED' posters for cats  and criminals, but has anyone put it to the test for other sought after items? Maybe this could help turn that tide.

Bleeding Hearts and Yearnings

This features in the current issue of Tiny Dancing, soon to be available to buy from my website kiddies... It accompanies a wonderful recipe of Laura Coxeter's. It also accompanies many times I've considered what it would feel like to rip a still beating heart out of a man's chest...like Indiana Jones... but for different reasons. I'm not in Gaggle for nothing.
